Our Founders
Riya Laheja
As the cofounder of The Start Small Movement, Riya aspires to help small businesses. After witnessing the struggle of small female owned businesses, she was inspired to help make these businesses a more prominent force in the world we live in today. Through her expertise in computer science and engineering, Riya brings a more analytical approach when working with these businesses. Through her love for business, including the areas of marketing and budgeting, she aims to increase awareness and the reach these small businesses have online.
Nivi Billa
As the cofounder of The Start Small Movement, Nivi Billa has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. In elementary school, she launched fun businesses with her friends, including an origami business and an event planning service. Nivi is passionate about leadership and the world of finance, and she loves finding creative and impactful ways to help businesses grow. Her goal is to empower women in business and help founders across the world reach new levels.
How We Met
Riya and Nivi met in elementary school where they had the same love for entrepreneurship. Together they created origami, lemonade, and even bake sale businesses. Nivi moved away from New Jersey in middle school, but Riya and Nivi stayed best friends and created the Start Small Movement through their many facetime calls.
